An investigation will try to figure out how Orleans Parish paper court records ended up in a landfill.
Darren Lombard, the Orleans Parish Clerk of Criminal District Court, says city employees improperly dumped the records last week at the Gentilly Landfill on Almonaster Avenue.
Lombard says he sent a team of staffers to the landfill on Monday and Tuesday to hunt for the records, some of which date from the 1960s.
Lombard says about 60 cases of files were salvaged, but an unknown number of documents are still lost.
