An investigation is underway after a Jefferson Parish deputy fired a shot at an armed suspect during a traffic stop on Wednesday.

Deputies pulled over a car around 1:45 p.m. on the Earhart Expressway near Clearview Parkway. As they were patting down the driver, the man reportedly resisted and pulled a gun.

The deputy fired at least one shot without hitting the suspect.

The man was taken into custody, and deputies recovered his gun. The suspect, whose name hasn't been released, is reportedly a convicted felon and isn't allowed to carry one.
