An employee of the St. Landry Parish Jail is accused of contraband cell phone use.

Toi Antoinette Lazard of Opelousas was a kitchen worker at the jail. She reportedly allowed inmates to use her cell phone to make calls and send texts.

An inmate accused of homicide reportedly made calls trying to convince a witness to change his testimony.

Lazard was arrested Wednesday and charged with malfeasance in office and contraband taken into a penal institution.
