The Louisiana National Guard says fighter jets are training this week in the skies over New Orleans.
The jets are taking off from the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse to participate in planned training that's been going on since Tuesday.
Residents were taken off guard by the noise of the maneuvers around 10 p.m. A spokesman says operations are required to be conducted later in the evening at this time of year.
The Louisiana National Guard says they'll take steps in the future to notify the community about flight operations ahead of time.
