Mother From Harvey To Be Charged With Murder Of Her Toddler Son

Jefferson Parish officials say a mother in Harvey will be charged with the death of her three-year-old son.

Deputies responded on Monay morning to the St. Germaine Apartments on Manhattan Boulevard after Alexis Welsh called to report that her son was dead.

On arrival, they found the child dead and Welsh suffering from a number of lacerations.

The coroner's office says the boy's cause of death was smothering, and his death was a homicide.

Welsh will be charged with first-degree murder once she's released from the hospital.
