NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says she's ready to the work with the National Guard if President Donald Trump sends them to town.

Kirkpatrick says she's proud of the city's recent overall reductions in violent crime, but she adds that public safety is a bipartisan issue.

At a news conference on Wednesday, reporters asked Gov. Jeff Landry why he's sent Louisiana National Guard troops to the Texas border and to Washington, D.C. but not to New Orleans.

Landry praised Trump's efforts to reduce crime in American cities.
