The Saints are likely to be without a member of their secondary for the rest of the season.
New Orleans coach Kellen Moore said that safety Julian Blackmon is likely done for the year after suffering a shoulder injury in the team's season opener.
Blackmon signed with New Orleans during training camp and played every defensive snap in the team's Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 27-year-old had seven total tackles in the season opener.
The injury was not discovered until a few hours after the game when Blackmon got home.
He played the first five years of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts.
In other news, the team has restructured tight end Taysom Hill's contract and waived rookie linebacker Fadil Diggs.
The Saints host the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.
