New Orleans needs to certify enough poll workers for the city's primary election on October 11.

City residents will vote for mayor, sheriff, and several city council seats.

Clerk of Criminal Court Darren Lombard says he needs at least 1,500 poll workers, and right now has only 1,200.

The Secretary of State is accepting applications. Certified commissioners are paid $200 for every election day worked.

Applicants need proof of Orleans Parish residency and voter registration.
