State officials want Louisiana residents to know that there are millions of federal dollars available to help crime victims deal with unexpected expenses.
The Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime awarded $19 million to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement as a part of an annual grant.
$2 million will go to the state's Victim Compensation Program, and the other $17 million will be subgranted to community-based organizations and public agencies that work directly with victims.
