Project NOLA, the city's main operator of surveillance cameras, is denying the New Orleans Police Department access to its system.
The company's owner Bryan Lagarde says he cut the cord after the city refused to end an arrangement with a TV show called "Homicide Squad."
The show embeds personnel with police who often film at crime scenes.
Lagarde said he didn't want his private network to be used by a commercial TV production company for entertainment purposes.
