Tyrell Morris is off to prison for one year after his conviction last Friday for abusing his former position as director of New Orleans' 911 call center.
Morris was accused of trying to cover up his role in wrecking a city vehicle following a birthday celebration.
An Orleans Parish jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Morris guilty of malfeasance in office, insurance fraud, impersonating an officer, and injuring public records.
Morris could have been sentenced to ten years just for the malfeasance count.
