The Louisiana Supreme Court is denying an appeal from a man convicted of killing a New Orleans police officer in 2017.

Darren Bridges was found guilty in 2022 of first-degree murder in the death of Officer Marcus McNeil during a police chase in New Orleans East. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal affirmed the conviction and sentence last year.

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday unanimously refused to hear Bridges' appeal for a review of the appellate court's decision.
