Baton Rouge high schools are in for millions of dollars' worth of upgrades.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved a $40 million bond on Thursday evening.
Superintendent LaMont Cole says the funds can be used for projects such as new tracks, football fields, auditorium upgrades, and workforce development programming.
District leaders say the one-time bond keeps them out of the general fund, which they want to use for teacher pay raises.
The bond funds may be available as soon as December.
