The federal government shutdown is causing delays in Louisiana home sales.
Since the shutdown started, no new National Flood Insurance Program policies can be issued.
Homebuyers relying on the FEMA flood insurance program to complete their purchases are unable to close for now.
FEMA can't issue new flood insurance policies or renew existing ones until the shutdown ends and Congress provides the necessary funds.
Other federal housing programs are also on hold, including appraisals and federal loans.
