Election officials are reporting strong turnout in Orleans Parish for early voting in the October 11 election.
The Louisiana Secretary of State's Office says nearly 39,000 parish voters cast early ballots. That's significantly more than the turnout in other recent local elections.
Political analysts say the robust turnout indicates engagement with the issues on the part of voters, even if it means frustration with current city leadership.
