The National Hurricane Center in Miami is now tracking the 13th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

Tropical Storm Melissa has formed in the central Caribbean and could become a hurricane by the weekend. A hurricane watch is in effect for parts of Haiti, and Jamaica is under a tropical storm watch.

Forecasters say Melissa is expected to slow down but its exact track remains uncertain. For now, the chances of the storm impacting the U.S mainland, are low.

It appears Melissa will not be a threat for the northern Gulf Coast.

The hurricane season ends November 30.
