A 16-year-old student faces charges after Tangipahoa Parish deputies say he brought drugs and a gun to Hammond High School on Monday.

School resource officers investigated the student, who seemed to be under the influence. A search of his bag turned up marijuana, THC, a vape, and a stolen handgun.

He was arrested for a list of drug and weapons charges.

Officials say the school was briefly placed on lockdown, but the sheriff's office says students were never in danger.
