LSU has a new athletic director.

ESPN is reporting that the SEC powerhouse is promoting Verge Ausberry to AD and removing his interim tag.

New school president Wade Rousse began his job Tuesday and made the decision on his first day in office.

Ausberry is a former LSU linebacker who has served within the athletic department for 24 years. He had been named the interim AD after the school and Scott Woodward made the decision to mutually part ways last week.

The Louisiana native was formerly the executive deputy athletic director under Woodward and is a member of the search committee to find a new head football coach.
