The French Quarter Management District is urging voters to renew an existing sales tax that benefits the area.
The tax collects about one quarter of one percent of every dollar spent in the French Quarter.
Revenue from the "quarter for the Quarter" helps maintain the area's 900 historic streetlamps, finances extra police patrols, repairs sidewalks, and covers homeless services. The tax reportedly raised about $4 million this year.
Renewal of the sales tax is on the ballot in this Saturday's election.
