A mental health facility near Mandeville faces severe funding cuts as a result of a budget deficit in St. Tammany Parish.
The Parish Council has approved an amendment to cut $600,000 from Safe Haven, which was established 13 years ago to replace Southeast Louisiana Hospital.
Other cuts are likely as the parish struggles with a budget gap of between $20 million and $30 million.
More budget hearings are expected to take place between now and the end of the year.
