Many churches in the New Orleans area reportedly plan to cancel their Christmas services because of the ongoing immigration enforcement effort.

Pastor Melquisedec Castillo, vice president of a local coalition of Hispanic pastors, says his church and others aren't holding Christmas services this year.

Turnout may be much lower than usual at churches that hold services.

The Archdioceses of New Orleans and Baton Rouge are both granting dispensations from attending Mass for Catholics who are fearful of Border Patrol actions.
