A seasonal reminder: "Cajun Night Before Christmas" is now the official children's Christmas book in Louisiana.

During this year's legislative session, state lawmakers passed Act 172, which gave the book its official status.

The 1973 book, written by Trosclair and illustrated by James Rice, retells the classic Christmas story with a Cajun accent in a bayou setting, replacing Santa's reindeer with eight alligators.

The book has sold more than a million copies.
