The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program is underway in New Orleans to help restore Louisiana's coastal wetlands.
The city's Office of Resilience and Sustainability coordinates the program, which allows trees to be used for coastal and wetland restoration projects instead of being thrown away.
The collected trees will be bundled and airlifted by helicopter to be dropped into the targeted areas of the Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge, near Lake Ponchartrain.
