Two Slidell House Fires Blamed On Unsafe Fireworks Disposal

Fire officials say a couple of New Year's Day house fires in Slidell resulted from improper fireworks disposal.

St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection battled a blaze in the garage of a home on West Forest Drive.

A second home also reportedly caught fire because of improper disposal of fireworks.

Investigators say somebody tossed firecrackers into a trash can on the back porch of a home on Wake Reserve Road, and a fire resulted around 10 a.m.

There were no injuries reported in either fire.
