In addition to angling for the 2031 Super Bowl, New Orleans city officials may renovate the Smoothie King Center in hopes of hosting an NBA All-Star game.

Pelicans owner Gayle Benson and Governor Jeff Landry met this week with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to discuss a major makeover of the arena.

A 2024 feasibility study recommended upgrades such as replacing 2,300 of the 25-year-old lower-bowl seats and 2,700 fixed club seats.

It's not yet known how such improvements would be paid for.
