The Leah Chase School will remain open for now thanks to a couple of large donations.
The Orleans Parish School Board voted to accept the donations in a special meeting on Thursday evening.
The Edmunds family is donating $2 million and the Leah Chase Family Foundation is adding another $225,000 to keep the school from closing its doors.
In exchange, the school board agrees to keep the school open for at least two years, to use the money only for operating expenses, and to report on how it's spent.
