The Governor's Office is observing today as "Wear Blue Day."

Louisiana residents are encouraged to wear blue in observance of January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

The Office of Human Trafficking Prevention works to locate and identify victims and prosecute traffickers. The ultimate aim is to prevent trafficking in the first place so victims don't have to be rescued after the fact.

The state's approach seeks to deter human trafficking statewide, not just in cities like Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport.
