Mayor Helena Moreno is off to the races after being sworn in on Monday, signing 13 executive orders on her first day in office.

The orders address ongoing infrastructure problems and reorganize certain aspects of city government.

One order sets up a permanent street maintenance unit to focus on pothole repair and concrete work citywide.

Another order prioritizes fixing the streetlights in the city.

Moreno signed an order that bans non-essential travel for city workers, including herself and members of her administration.

The New Orleans City Council has three new faces after Monday's swearing-in ceremony at the Saenger Theater.

Jason Hughes and Matthew Willard are both former state representatives. Willard now fills Moreno's former at-large City Council seat.

Amy McCarron is taking the seat of former council member Joe Giarrusso, who is now the city's chief administrative officer.

Hughes, Willard, and McCarron were sworn in along with the returning council members.
