Tangipahoa Parish Coach Arrested For Battery

A Tangipahoa Parish coach faces a charge of simple battery.

Amite police arrested Courtney Whigham last week and booked him into the parish jail.

Whigham is on the staff of Amite High Magnet School. The arrest happened on campus.

Investigators say a student was injured during football practice last August and went into a bathroom to call his mother.

The student claims Whigham shoved him and hurt him when he came back out. The student's father complained to the police.
