The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for thieves who have been stealing copper from the parish's light poles.
About 300 light poles have had their wiring stolen in the last eight months, most of them on the West Bank.
The stolen wiring has plunged certain stretches of roads and highways into darkness and may cost $1.5 million to replace.
Investigators say the thieves must have some electrical training and may be posing as state or parish workers.
