A new report from the New Orleans Office of Inspector General says the NOPD wasn't properly reporting overtime to city officials last year.

The OIG's report says some supervisors didn't verify that officers actually worked the overtime they entered on their timesheets.

Some of them reportedly were at home or elsewhere while on the clock.

The city is facing a huge budget shortfall, and Inspector General Ed Michel says the millions of dollars of NOPD overtime paid in 2025 is part of the problem.
