Louisiana's legislative auditor says his team will work all weekend long if necessary to finish a review of retention bonuses for qualifying NOPD officers.

Mike Waguespack says the aim is to get the bonuses to the officers by January 30th, and they're reviewing nearly 800 officers.

He says if all of them qualify, the bonus total will be about $9.5 million.

The city is grappling with a $222 million budget gap, and the NOPD has chronic manpower shortage.
