Former Masters champion Patrick Reed confirmed his decision to leave LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour later this season to ESPN on Wednesday (January 28).

"I loved my time on LIV," Reed said. "I became a different person because of the friendships with players I've made. Family is my priority and playing closer to them is what really matters. I can't get days back.

Reed, whose lone major victory came at the 2018 Masters Tournament, resigned from the PGA Tour and joined the Saudi Arabian-backed LIV Golf league following its launch in 2022. The PGA Tour said Reed will be eligible to return to the circuit on August 25, nearly a full year after he last appeared at a LIV Golf event, which will allow him the opportunity to compete in FedEx Cup Fall events.

"I'm a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR," Reed wrote in a post shared on his X account Wednesday. "I can't wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth."

Reed will attempt to get into FedEx Cup Fall fields through open qualifiers and sponsor exemptions as he will be a non-member through August. The decision to return to the PGA Tour came weeks after five-time major champion Brooks Koepka announced his LIV departure and later return to the PGA Tour.
