New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno is announcing a plan to fix the city's streets.
Her administration stated on Wednesday that it will use more than $6 million in unused bond funds to buy paving and repair equipment and hire 50 employees for a new street paving unit.
The plan still needs the approval of the City Council, which appears likely, since most of the council members flanked Moreno during the plan's announcement.
Most of the money will come from projects the city will defund.
