Eleven Louisiana hospitals are launching a program statewide to reduce the number of fatal overdoses among pregnant women.
Project MOM stands for Maternal Overdose Mortality. The program is designed to help mothers who are dealing with substance use.
Louisiana health officials say the program's goal is to reduce the overdose death rate in pregnant and postpartum mothers by 80 percent over the next three years.
The Department of Health is working to get more Louisiana hospitals to join the effort.
