Denham Springs Resident Receives Unclaimed Property Check Worth Over $20K

A Denham Springs man is the recipient of a large unclaimed property check.

State Treasurer Dr. John Fleming presented a check for nearly $20,500 to Samuel Duffy during last Thursday's meeting of the Zachary Rotary Club.

The Louisiana Department of Treasury says there's more than $1 billion in unclaimed property waiting to be returned to Louisiana residents.

Fleming says the average claim is about $900.
