Teen Killed In Drive-By Shooting On I-55 In Hammond

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a drive-by shooting on I-55 that killed an 18-year-old early Sunday.

Deputies responded around 2 a.m. to the reported shooting on the northbound freeway entrance at University Avenue.

Investigators say Javion Steptoe pulled over alongside a car on the ramp to hand off an item belonging to a relative.

A third car pulled up, and somebody fired shots at Steptoe and his relative's cars, then drove away.

Steptoe died at the scene, but two other people weren't hurt.
