Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser Pardons Tony The Crawfish

Tony the Crawfish is off to live a happy life after being pardoned by Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.

Tony was named after the late Anthony Chachere, founder of Tony Chachere's Creole Foods in Opelousas, where the pardon took place on Tuesday.

Nungesser has been pardoning a ceremonial mudbug since 2017 on the first Tuesday after Mardi Gras. It's presented as a way to celebrate crawdad season in Louisiana.

Tony the Crawfish was released into Chicot State Park in Ville Platte.
