The city of New Orleans plans to auction off 150 city vehicles in an attempt to raise revenue.

Most of the vehicles being auctioned are police cars, which have to be decommissioned first. There are also surplus and take-home vehicles going to the auction block.

Chief Administrative Officer Joe Giarrusso says the previous CAO had a take-home car, but he doesn't.

So far 46 vehicles have been auctioned, raising more than $60,000. That's a drop in the bucket of the city's budget deficit of nearly $224 million.
