The American Meteor Society is confirming that a bright object seen streaking across the sky on Monday evening was a fireball.

The society defines a fireball as a meteor brighter than the planet Venus.

The meteor was seen for a few seconds at around 7:20 p.m., and not just in south Louisiana.

The American Meteor Society's database shows that the same object was visible in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.
