The demolition of the abandoned Lindy Boggs Medical Center in Mid-City may start as soon as this spring.
The hospital has sat vacant since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and has become a scene of vandalism and blight.
New Orleans City Council member Lesli Harris says that if a public-private partnership agreement involving developers is signed in a timely manner, the teardown could get underway soon.
More than $11 million from a bond issue voters approved last fall is earmarked for the Lindy Boggs demolition.
