A New Orleans lawmaker is wanting to legalize recreational marijuana in Louisiana.
Rep. Candace Newell filed House Bill 373 to create a pilot program for retail marijuana sales.
Under the bill, recreational marijuana could only be sold at dispensaries already licensed to sell the items. She says she wants to make sure what's being sold in the state is tested and safe.
The bill is going to the House Wealth and Welfare Committee Monday.
