The 2026 regular legislative session is now underway in Louisiana, and Gov. Jeff Landry got things started on Monday by speaking to the lawmakers.

Landry's address covered topics including education in Louisiana, the state economy, health care, and more.

More than 1,000 bills were pre-filed before the session started. The proposed $47 billion state budget is one of the items lawmakers will take on.

The legislative session is required to adjourn by 6 p.m. Monday, June 1.
