Moreno To Ask NOLA City Council To Raise Trash Pickup Fee

Mayor Helena Moreno says she plans to ask the City Council to raise the monthly trash pickup fee for New Orleans homeowners.

Moreno made the announcement on Monday during a news conference.

She said the $24 fee hadn't changed since 2011, but she didn't say how much of an increase she'll ask for.

Trash pickup fees generate $38 million in revenue a year, but the annual cost of the trash collection program is $62 million.
