Louisiana's Ten Commandments law will continue in effect while an ACLU appeal to the US Supreme Court proceeds.

State Attorney General Liz Murrill's office says the ACLU wanted to keep an injunction blocking the law in place during the appeal.

But Murrill's office says the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the ACLU, as a result of which the law will remain in effect.

Murrill's office says the law went into effect just over a month ago, requiring a copy of the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom in the state.
