A Southern University grad has a hands-on involvement with the Artemis moon mission.

Shreveport native Jeremy Plater is a quality assurance specialist at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, which partially assembles the rockets used in the Artemis program.

Southern University's College of Engineering performed about 80 percent of the harness wiring for the Artemis One rocket.

NASA launched Artemis Two on Wednesday, the first manned lunar mission in more than 50 years.
