The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting the recovery of a 17-year-old swimmer's body after he drowned off Grand Isle on Saturday.
The sheriff's office notified the Coast Guard around 2 p.m. that a person was in the water about 500 yards from the jetties near Grand Isle Beach. The Coast Guard activated a boat and a helicopter for the search.
The sheriff's office and local EMS found a body washed up on shore that matched the description of the teen in the water. At that point, the Coast Guard called off the search.
