A trial is scheduled for one of the ten inmates accused of breaking out of the Orleans Parish jail last year.
Lenton Vanburen Jr. was doing time for second-degree murder when he reportedly broke out of jail in May. He had been convicted for a deadly shooting on Chef Menteur Highway in 2021.
Police rounded Vanburen up in Baton Rouge ten days later he reportedly escaped.
On Friday, a judge found him competent to stand trial for the jailbreak and scheduled a start date of September 15th.
