A New Orleans sheriff is facing a 30-count indictment in connection with a jailbreak that left ten inmates on the run last year.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson made an appearance in court this morning for charges including malfeasance in office, filing or maintaining false public records, obstruction of justice and more.
The sheriff's chief financial officer was also indicted on 20 counts, and both women must surrender their passports as well as remain in the state of Louisiana.
Hutson is out on a $300,000 bond.
The indictment comes just one day after she held her farewell speech. Sheriff-elect Michelle Woodfork will be sworn in next Monday.
