Formal sentencing is scheduled for next month after a man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a double murder in Covington.

Antonio Tyson avoided a possible death sentence by pleading guilty to the murders of a popular priest and a longtime church assistant.

Tyson killed Father Otis Young and Ruth Prats on Thanksgiving weekend in 2022, then set fire to their bodies.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Tyson is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, and another 40 years for obstruction of justice.
